Gun powder / Idli powder

Ingredients

  • Red chillies

  • White sesame seeds

  • Chana dal

  • Salt

  • Asafoetida

  • Groundnut oil ( Or any cooking oil)

Gun Powder making

  1. Take a vessel (kadai) and put white sesame seeds ( 1.5 teaspoons ) and fry on low flame.

  2. Once it starts spluttering, remove it from the kadai and keep it aside.

  3. Put 2-3 spoons of cooking oil , put 2 big spoons of chana dal and 40 - 45 red chillies ( without the stem (pedicel and callyx) of the chilli).

  4. Put som asafoetida powder and fry them.

  5. The chilli should not become black and must break upon touching.

  6. Off the flame and allow it to cool and then put the roasted white sesame seeds that were kept aside at the start in.

  7. Then, put them in a mixture for grinding.

  8. Put 1- 1.5 teaspoons of salt in the mixture and grind it.

   9. If spicy add sugar as per your requirements.​

 Your gun plwder is ready!!

NOTE : IT CAN BE STORED FOR ABOUT 2 - 2.5 MONTHS.
